Jean-François Bureau is a Professor in the School of Psychology at the University of Ottawa, Canada. He received his Ph.D. in developmental psychology from the University of Québec in Montréal in 2005 and completed a Post-Doctorate the Harvard University in 2005-2007.
He runs the CARELab, which is part of the Child Development Section at University of Ottawa. The lab studies child-parent relationships and how it impacts child socioemotional adaptation. In the last years they focused on attachment to fathers in relation to other family subsystems (e.g., coparenting, sibling relationships), the impact of parent-child dynamic on the development of non-suicidal self-injuries in youth, and family relations and youths' climate anxiety.
Jean-François Bureau is a member of Prof. Dr. Markus Paulus' CAS Research Group The Ontogeny of Normativity. He will be in Munich as a Visiting Fellow in June 2025.
